Arise, Release Me

Arise, Release Me was inspired by my son, JaQuan, and a powerful drawing he created when he was just 14 years old. The drawing depicted a man crying out to God to be released from the chains that held him in bondage. That image stayed with me for years and eventually became the seed for an original stage production centered on struggle, faith, redemption, and transformation.

The story explores what happens when the chains meant to bind the soul are confronted by truth, identity, faith, and the power to rise. More than a stage play, Arise, Release Me became a message—a mirror reflecting the battles many people face silently and a reminder that what has held us captive does not have to define our future.

Through raw emotion, spiritual warfare, moments of surrender, humor, and hope, the production takes audiences on a journey from bondage to freedom, brokenness to restoration, and struggle to purpose.

What began with the imagination of a 14-year-old boy ultimately became something much greater: a mother's inspiration, a son's artwork, and a story brought to life on stage.
